A recipient of the George Washington Honor Medal from the Freedoms Foundation, Pulitzer Prize nominee, and Outstanding Young Man in America 1985, 85, and 86, Dr. Archie Wortham received his Ph.D., in Curriculum Studies from the University of Texas, Austin. His research focuses on fathers, and how important they are in the overall growth and success of their children in school. His dissertation entitled "Paternal Involvement in the Education of their Sons: How Fathers communicated the Value of Education to Their Sons," was nominated as the Outstanding dissertation from his department. He's presently an assistant professor of speech at Northeast Lakeview Community College, has done workshops and presentations on fatherhood throughout the country, most recently at the 2007 National Council for Educating Black Children. He is a member of the Vice President of the Board of Directors of fatherville.com. Archie lives with his wife, Suzan of 24 years, and their two sons Myles (13), and Jeremy (17) in Universal City, Texas, a suburb of San Antonio.
